It represents the traditional boat fishing in Japan. It is hand painted in ink sumi-e, signed, stamped and made on Sugihara paper.
Sugihara paper is Japanese hand-made paper that was used by the Imperial Court and the nobility from the Heian Period (794-1185) to the Muromachi Period (1338-1573). In the Meiji Period (1868-1912) mulberry, paper making materials, were in short supply and production declined. It started to recover in 1970.
Condition: very good vintage. One small hole at the upper left corner of the paper canvas, but the item is priced accordingly. It is sold unframed, so you will receive the actual Sugihara paper painted sumi-e.
Size: 25” High (64 cm) x 18 ½” Wide (47 cm).
